A VERY GOOD EXAMPLE OF A FULL/COMPLETE ROHM SA DAGGER BY EICKHORN.
A wonderful piece of Third Reich history which as survived untouched. Most collectors know the story behind these rare daggers and that MOST of the SA daggers with the presented Rohm etched dedication, were altered, defaced or destroyed. It was completely against Hitlers specific orders to keep a Rohm signature intact. Therefore this dagger would have been hidden away and the original owner would have purchased another dagger to wear. These were all produced and presented in 1933-34, then when Rohm was murdered in July 1934, all these daggers disappeared. This obviously is a very early SA with solid nickel fittings throughout. Nice Eickhorn crossguards. Lower one unusually has NO Gau mark but IS stamped with the benchmark ‘0’ underneath. A perfect dark wood grip with nickel eagle and enamel button. Scabbard has been left uncleaned. Has all the original brown anodising showing just a little age to the surface. Blade is near mint, with full crossgrain polish. Very deep and clear SA motto and of course a FULL ROHM SIGNATURE to the reverse which exhibits the same background colour as the front motto letters. The very small oval Eickhorn trademark is etched up near the riccasso/crossguard. A really nice dagger and a perfect example of its kind.
