RARE EP&S ETCHED BAYONET WITH BUGLER IN A PANEL.
This is one of the rare ‘memory of my service time’ etched bayonets Bt Ernst Pack & Sonne. In addition to ‘standard’ etches, EP&S made some quite unique etch designs which are highly collected. This is a long K98 dress bayonet with the distinctive ‘off set’ nuts and bolts which hold the grip plates to the hilt. Nickel plated fittings which are in good condition. The scabbard has most of the original black paint, and there is evidence of a once present leather frog. The blade is totally mint, beautiful. On the obverse side is the large oval panel depicting a Wehrmacht soldier standing upright blowing a bugle. He is wearing combat equipment and you can see his gas mask canister as well as a Luger holster. The details of this etch are amazing. It is pictured on page 157 of Wayne Techets excellent book ‘German Etched Bayonets’ and he rates it as very rare.
