A TEXTBOOK EXAMPLE OF A ‘NAME ONLY’ ERASED ROHM SA DAGGER.
I am currently in the fortunate position of having all 3 varieties of Rohm daggers by Eickhorn. A factory erased example, this name only erased example and a full Rohm with complete dedication intact. They are identical in exterior appearance as of course, they were made at the same time and from the same ‘batch’. All have the same small Eickhorn oval trademark used in 1934 etc. This one is the ‘erased name only’ example. The Ernst Rohm name has been fairly carefully removed from the blade by grinding with a wheel. This has not been factory done, but a reasonable amateur job! A very nice mid-coloured hardwood grip which has retained perfect contours and shape. There is a very small hairline age crack to the lower part beside the lower crossguard. All nickel fittings are perfect, as is the nickel eagle and SA button. Scabbard still has most of the original lacquer over the brown ‘anodising’. The lower ball is undamaged. The lower crossguard has a Gau mark No for Nordsee. It also has an assembly bench mark number 4 underneath.
The upper scabbard ring has a very nice earky short leather hanger and nickel snap clip.
The blade is in near mint condition throughout, with all original crossgrain polish, dark background to the Alles fur Deutchland lettering. The reverse etched Rohm inscription has the same background colour in the lettering that still remains.
An excellent example!
