A NEAR MINT EXAMPLE OF AN EARLY THIRD REICH LIONS HEAD SWORD BY ALCOSO.

A beautiful example of an all brass parade sword by ALCOSO. Never been in a collection before and was acquired from a veterans daughter. Lions head has two red glass eyes. Perfect black celluloid grip with triple wire wrap. Virtually ALL of the factory applied fire gilding remains on the hilt and crossguard! Original officers knot tied in place. Scabbard is undamaged and has all the original black factory paint. Blade is nickel plated and stone mint. The Alcoso sideways trademark logo appears on the reverse riccasso. A very nice sword indeed.
Measures 38” overall. This is an Alcoso model 119 and appears on page 64 of Angolia’s ‘Swords of Germany 1900/1945’ excellent reference book.
