THIRD REICH NAVY DAGGER BY WKC WITH KNOT & STANDARD PLAIN BLADE.

A nice example of effectively a ‘basic’ navy dagger with no optional extras! It’s not commonly know that the double etched blade on most navy daggers was an ‘extra cost’ item charged by the manufactures. It’s actually listed in the Eickhorn sales catalogue price list as such, so I imagine other makers did the same. It’s also why you occasionally see a navy dagger with a beautiful hammered scabbard but a plain blade. The officer chose to spend his extra money on outside appearance and keep the blade standard. A plain bladed navy dagger is MUCH rarer than one with an etch, every discerning dagger collection should have an example of both. This is a nice, all brass dagger with perfect cream celluloid grip. Brass wire wrap. A good scabbard that’s dent free. Grip has the original bullion knot tied in the correct way. Has been on there for ever. A period running repair has been made on the cord above the acorn ball as it was obviously fraying at some time. A mint PLAIN blade with no issues, WKC trademark stamped to the obverse riccasso. Good looking dagger.
