RARE MAKER EARLY SA (NOW NSKK) DAGGER BY CARL SCHMIDT.

RE-LIISTED DUE TO COMPLETE TIME WASTER!! A very good example of an early SA dagger with all nickel fittings, with period painted scabbard to conform with NSKK regulations. The NSKK were the motorised/transport side of the SA and never had their own specific dagger. They used SA daggers and the scabbards were coloured black to differentiate them from the SA. Early SA daggers were hand painted or sprayed, in various levels of quality! When the RZM took over production control , scabbards were painted black in the factory. This one has a decent coating of period black paint, but in the few places it’s chipped, you can see the brown anodising underneath. High quality nickel fittings. Lower crossguard stamped with Gau Ns.
A lovely mid-brown hardwood grip with an interesting grain pattern running through it. Blade is in very good order with a vast percentage of the original crossgrain polish remaining. Nice clear etched motto with grey background. Reverse riccasso has the Carl Schmidt Sohn round trademark with a little house in the middle. Rated 9/10 on rariety scale!! Not many of these about!!
