A GOOD EXAMPLE OF A LATER SS ‘33 RZM DAGGER BY SMF.

Always a popular collectable, in fact anything SS that’s real in in good condition, is very popular. This is a 33 pattern SS mans dress dagger with the small and interesting RZM code 1198/38. This is for the SMF company with the last letters designating the year of manufacture. In this case it’s 1938.
As this is a later produced dagger all hilt fittings are the zinc alloy mix with nickel plated finish. The plating is mostly intact, with near 100% on the obverse but with some surface loss on the reverse to about 50%. The grip is perfect. Aluminium eagle and enamel SS button, with no damage and fits like a glove. Scabbard has nickel plated steel fittings. A little spotting to the lower one. The scabbard body has a full coating of black gloss paint. This has been re-painted in the past. Not bad, but has a few runs at the top. The blade is really great. Virtually full mint with all crossgrain and grey finish go all of the lettering. The reverse riccasso has the small RZM circle and the unique RZM code used by SMF. This consists of a small set of SS runes and then the code 1198/38.
A good looking piece with a great blade.

Code: 4706
