AN EARLY AND VERY UNCLEANED 1st LUFTWAFFE DAGGER BY RARE MAKER DAVID MALSCH.

Not been in a collection before and purchased by me from a ‘finder’ who described the owner where it came from as ‘smoking 100 a day’!! Well, in can actually believe it from looking at the dagger which is covered in yellow patina. Apparently it was on the wall backwards and you can see that one side is slightly cleaner than the other, just! Anyway, all solid nickel fittings with brass inset swastikas. Solid nickel chain and snap clip. Leather is generally pretty good. Grip has a few wear spots but has the original thin grip wire just visible. The scabbard leather is very good on the obverse with a little wear/damage to the reverse and a little on the edge where some is missing. Not really noticeable as it’s all the same colour. Blade is very nice indeed. A nickel plated surface with no damage and virtually perfect. The oval DAVID MALSCH logo is deeply etched/stamped into the riccasso. Not a bad dagger at all. Very early, just post DLV era and was only carried by officers at this time.
