AN EARLY ‘33 SS DAGGER BY ROBERT KLAAS.

Manufactured in the early 1930’s and at that time carried by every member of the SS, both officers and men (the officers chained dagger was introduced in 1936). This has all nickel fittings throughout, including both scabbard fittings. A very good example with a couple of minor faults. There is a small chip to the solid ebony grip at the top of the handle to the reverse edge. A small piece missing. Been done a long time ago, and unfortunately very common with the brittle ebony wood. The SS button is perfect with no chips. The nickel grip eagle is fine, but at some time there has been an attempt to remove it from the grip. They failed, but there are a few chips and bumps around the edge of the eagle where they tried!
The lower crossguard is district marked with a stamped ’I’. Scabbard body has a great majority of the original black ‘anodised’ finish remaining. The blade is very nice with most of the crossgrain polish and a deep gray colour to the background lettering. The reverse riccasso has the larger type KLAAS trademark of the ‘kissing Kranes’ in a circle. (Klaas used a much smaller trademark on their Rohm daggers in order to make space for the long dedication) Overall a very nice dagger etc.
