THIRD REICH/1930’s SENIOR FORESTRY CUTLASS.

Hunting and Forestry sidearms and cutlasses are one of my favourite items from this era. Usually devoid of an eagle and swastika, but if they are there, small and inconspicuous. This is an early all brass Senior Forestry Officials ‘D guard’ cutlass. Quite simple in design as all the brass fittings are quite smooth and plain. However, it does look the part and is complete! Nice cream celluloid grips that have toned with age, but all 6 brass acorns are present. A fluted clamshell guard under the crossguard. Very good black leather scabbard with brass upper and lower fittings. All parts are matching marked with the number 30. Blade is triple etched with the usual hunting scenes on both sides and a decorative spine. The reverse riccasso is stamped with the makers logo for PDL, which is for
P D Luneschloss, Solingen. A good, period example.
