A really lovely looking dagger this. Lemon yellow celluloid grip with the original aluminium bullion 42cm knot tied in place. No damage or wear to the knot. The grip is virtually mint apart from two TINY ‘chips’ to one of the rear surface rounded grip edges. No cracks. This features the 2nd type crossguard used by Eickhorn. (There were 2). The dagger has 100% of the silver original plating. No lifting at all. In several places there is quite a lot of the original ‘frosting’ finish that was applied to all these pieces. It was an extremely thing flash coating so has worn off over the years. Nice to see some remaining though. The scabbard is really nice, dark background to the pebbled panels. It has one very small surface carrying dent to the rear of the scabbard on the middle edge. Without this the dagger would be rated as full mint. The nickel plated blade is super. The very small Eickhorn squirrel trademark is deeply stamped into the reverse riccasso. To date no one knows why this trademark existed at the same time as the larger etched trademark of the same design, but BOTH were used from around 1935/6 to 1941. A really good looking dagger.
