‘HATE BELT’ MADE FROM KRIEGSMARINE OFFICERS DRESS BELT.

Quite a common souvenir from WW2. British and US soldiers used captured belts, of all sorts, and attached badges, insignia, medals to the belts themselves. I’ve seen many variations. Usually they are the more common leather combat belt and buckle with items attached through the leather etc.
This is much more uncommon and I imagine as it was not so available. Navy items would only come from captured navy personnel or ports, which were all on the northern coasts. It is an Officers wide buffoon dress belt with guided aluminium buckle and keeper. The belt itself is in very good condition, no oxidisation etc. The blue cloth backing has a little moth here and there, but nothing dreadful. Attached to the belt are some 15-20 gilded metal naval rank and specialist insignia. These all seem to have come from epaulets from various specific specialties. There are a few gaps here and there where either badges or insignia have fallen off or been removed over the years.
A very nice interesting and historical belt souvenir.
