AN AMAZING, UNTOUCHED & UNCLEANED ERASED ROHM SA BY EICKHORN.

Never been in a collection and walked into a local shop last week. I know a lot of collectors love the un-touched and un-cleaned daggers. This is certainly one of those! Obviously an early piece as this was presented by Rohm to his followers in 1933/34. All solid nickel fittings thst have gone a dirty yellow colour. This applies to all the fittings both crossguard SS and scabbard. The grip is a very nice piece of hardwood. No serous damage at all apart from a small age split on the lower part where this has dried out in the past. After all this item is now about 91 years old!!! Nickel grip eagle and enamel SA button are perfect. The scabbard still retains all of the brown ‘anodising’ but is quite dirty on the surface. There is a very shallow indentation on the middle of the reverse scabbard. Not an issue. Now for the blade!!! Amazingly, after all this time, the blade has been protected in the scabbard and retains its FULL MINT CONDITION! All the crossgrain is present and the Alles fur DEUTCHLAND lettering is deep charcoal in colour.
The reverse blade has had the Rohm dedication completely erased with a grinding process. It’s been done well, but not by the factory so the grinding marks are quite rough. Looks great though. It’s is still possible to see just a few portions of the dedication lettering here and there. Whatnots most interesting is the Eickhorn trademark. The one used on this dagger is not the usual small oval, but the larger type not often seen. This was used from 1933-1935 but rarely seen, especially on a Rohm dagger! 75% of the trademark has been removed by the grinding process. The lower crossguard is stamped with a Gau letters Ns for Niedersachsen.
The crossguard is also stamped UNDERNEATH with a bench mark number 7. This was the guy in the factory that actually assembled this piece. You can find these dagger marked thus with numbers 1-9. A really great and historic dagger. Never in a collection before. A great find.
