AN EARLY EXAMPLE OF A SA DAGGER BY TIGER WITH DE- NAZIFIED GRIP EAGLE.

This is a really nice dagger and walked into a friends shop last week. An untouched early SA with the desirable TIGER trademark. Left completely untouched since being bought back as a war souvenir, with one exception! The eagle has been de-nazified/removed from the grip in quite a brutal manner. Rather than just pry it out to remove the swastika etc., they have cut out the area where the eagle sat!! It’s been done surgically but has left a tell-tale hole. You can see where the eagle sat and the little holes where the pins fixed it in. The rest of the grip is perfect and they left the SA button intact. All nickel fittings throughout. Never been apart. Gau marked lower crossguard Ns. A beautiful early scabbard with full brown anodised finish as well as most of the lacquer. Un-dented lower ball. (Scabbard is worth £300 on its own as a spare!) Blade is very clean, with a few age finger smudges but no damage. The motto lettering is crisp with full grey etch background. The TIGER motto is deeply etched to the reverse riccasso.
An opportunity to buy a very nice SA for much less than perfect retail. Either keep as it is, restore with a replacement eagle or find a replacement grip.
