IMPERIAL GERMAN NAVAL OFFICERS PARADE SWORD.

This is quite an impressive navy sword and is earlier and larger than most Imperial swords I have handled. It’s made by WKC but as it’s an early one, probably pre-1914, the maker is WK &c as they didn’t change their name and logo until the Third Reich period. A long sword with all brass fittings. The grip and hilt are quite large, as are the fold down clamshell type areas to the front and rear. The lions head pommel is in great detail and features red and green glass eyes. The solid white grip is undamaged and has a single brass wire wrap. The fold down, spring loaded crossguard/clamshell has a very early type of Imperial crown cast into the brass. The hard leather black scabbard is in excellent condition and has the three scabbard fittings. These are all marked with the same assembly number 126, each with the suspension rings. The long, pipe back steel blade has naval scene etchings to both sides as well as the Imperial Crown on both sides. The etched are all intact and clear. There is no damage to the blade. No edge nicks, sharpening or ‘sword fighting’ evidence. This type of sword features in Tom Wittmanns navy book and also the Imperial navy book by him and Tom Johnson. Impressive looking sword. Measures 36“ in length with a 31“ pipe-backed blade.
