RARE MAKER NAVY DAGGER COMPLETE WITH KNOT AND HANGERS.
An opportunity here to purchase a navy dagger by one of the much more uncommon makers CLEMEN & JUNG. The vast majority of Third Reich naval daggers were made by the Eickhorn company, closely followed by WKC. There were quite a few others including ALCOSO, but there were several smaller manufacturers whose products you just don’t come across very often. This is a very nice example by CLEMEN & JUNG and is marked with name and trademark on the riccasso.. This is a large oval with the company symbol of a ‘Z’ within a shield and the company name around the edges. Of all brass materials, it also retains a lot of the original fire gilding finish over the brass surfaces. There is an original cream rayon knot, which is original to the piece, and set in place with the complicated navy ‘tie’. The cream celluloid grip has a single brass wire wrap. There are two very small, fine surface cracks to the grip under the pommel, but to the reverse, so not initially obvious. No material missing. The brass scabbard is in very good condition with no carrying indentations. The blade is in mint condition with perfect bright nickel plated surface and deep grey etched panels to both sides. The original red felt blade washer is in place. The stamped makers mark appears on the riccasso.
There are a great set of matching dagger hangers with gilded aluminium fittings. The satin moire fabric is in perfect condition with little signs of wear to the dark blue velvet backings.
