A GOOD EXAMPLE OF A NSKK CHAINED DAGGER BY EICKHORN.

As I mentioned the last time I had one of these, they have become quite rare! Introduced at the same time as the 1936 SS chained dagger. This again was introduced and designed for the NSKK officers. The NCO’s and other ranks continued to wear the standard ‘33 pattern. Whist other manufacturers produced the chained dagger, Eickhorn seemed to make the most, and this is the one most collectors are after. This is a factory produced dagger, and in the RZM period, so all fittings are the RZM plated types. The crossguards show some minor lifting on the edges, but nothing serous. The mid-brown wood grip is fine with no issues. The alloy grip eagle and SA runes button are perfect. The scabbard and chain show some good honest wear. This dagger was worn a lot! The original black scabbard paint is nice, with just a little spidering to the surface. The chain retains nearly all of the original nickel plating and is the textbook type fitted to these Eickhorn daggers. The reverse of the chain links, especially at the top, show a fair amount of uniform wear. In fact the ‘NSKK Kopsfurung’ stamping to the reverse of the top link is very feint but can be seen Uber magnification. Just down to pure use and wear.
The blade is in really nice condition. Nice bright surfaces with a lot of the remaining crossgrain polish. The Eickhorn RZM number and circle are etched into the reverse riccasso. RZM M7/68 1941.
A real, 100% original example, used and untouched.
