A BEAUTIFUL, NEAR MINT EXAMPLE OF A RAD OFFICERS DAGGER BY ALCOSO, COMPLETE WITH HANGERS.

This is a really super example of this dagger. Introduced in 1938, it replaced the large hewer, which continued to be worn by all other ranks. This dagger has an all aluminium hilt with an anodised brushed finish. Therefore there is no plate lifting! The cream celluloid grips are both perfect with no cracks or chips. The silver plated steel scabbard has not been touched or cleaned in a very long time, so the silver has developed a grey patina. There are a few, and I mean few, slight areas of plate ‘bubbling’ just to the bottom of the scabbard. Very, very minor indeed. The blade is in stone mint condition! Wonderful! The motto letters still have the background grey infill and the reverse riccasso has the ALCOSO trademark with the scales. To cap it all off, there are an original set of brown leather hanging straps. Rectangular pebbled buckles and wide top clip. These are again in near mint condition. A really, really nice dagger set.
