A VERY NICE ‘OUT OF THE WOODWORK’ HJ DAGGER WITH MOTTO.

This is a great dagger and one of the last made IN 1938 WITH A MOTTO! This was the cut-off year so after sometime during 1938, they stopped putting the motto on the blades. This dagger has been wrapped up I imaging, and stored somewhere like an attic or loft. The hilt area shows exposure to age etc, whist the rest of the dagger is nearly mint. The hilt and some of the crossguard has aged to a brown colour. The pommel is 50/50 as it’s been protected by the leather top strap. Looks really cool. Chequered grips are fine and it has a perfect enamel HJ diamond. The scabbard has lovely, original black paint in super condition. The leatherwork is all good. The blade is virtually stone mint and has been protected inside the scabbard. A really bright blade with all crossgrain polish. The Blut und Ehre motto is deeply etched to the obverse and is perfect. The blade has a riccasso. On the reverse there is a bonus, as the makers mark for ANTON WINGER Jr is stamped on the riccasso along with the large ETCHED RZM code for them M7/51 and the date 1938, which is in the middle of the blade. A really nice and unusual piece.
