Well, what more could you want with a dagger like this!! A perfect, text-book example of the beautiful double etched ‘Voos style’ blade, original hangers and 23cm knot. It is also fantastically engraved on the top scabbard edge, with the original owners name and address!!
These ‘Voos style’ etched daggers have a whole chapter section in Tom Wittmanns Luftwaffe book, on pages 231 to 242. These daggers were definitely made by Emil Voos, but for a reason lost to time, never had their trademark on the blade, although the etch itself is identical in type and quality. The dagger has all the original dark grey finish to all the hilt fittings, crossguard and scabbard. The pommel also has 85% of the gilt finish on the swastikas both sides! There is a perfect off-white celluloid grip with silver bullion springy wire grip wrap. There is also the original 23cm portapee, which is slightly frayed at the swing point. It has a nice set of original de-luxe Luftwaffe hanging straps with the ornate oak-leaf top clip fitting. The top edge of the scabbard fitting has a beautifully done, 2 line inscription.
‘K. Winkler’ -‘Essen Chaussee 7’. This is obviously the original Luftwaffe officer and I am sure can be researched further.
A really superb dagger and text-book in every way.
