EARLY ALL BRASS WEHRMACHT OFFICERS ‘DOVE HEAD’ SWORD BY KREBS.

Third Reich officers swords have gained a lot more popularity in the past few years. Standard models fetching some record figures at auction both here and in Europe. You get a lot for your money and because of their construction are not reproduced. This a nice early sword by Carl Julius Krebs. It’s designated in their catalogue as ‘ No.3’. However, this one is not actually maker marked (as far as I can see) but is shown on page 106 in Angola's Swords of Germany book. An all brass hilt with single twisted grip wire. Profusely decorated back strap and knuckle bow with long leaves (not oak leaves). Crossguard features outstretched eagle in nice detail. Black painted scabbard in good order. Nice bright polished steel blade in mint condition. Sword measures 38” overall. Do the original owner was not small!
