THE SMALL, ALL ALUMINIUM HJ/DJ HIKE KNIFE.
This little HJ/DJ knives are a little controversial but as I have owner many of them way back to 40 years ago, I certainly believe that they are original period pieces. Actually what they were used for or made forbid the subject of much debate. We just need a period photo or advert to surface showing one of these, and everyone will be satisfied! They are all the same, so we’re made by the same company (whoever that was). Aluminium hilt with chequered grips. A smaller steel HJ type scabbard with belt loop and cross strap with popper. Blade is bowie shaped with single edge and sharp point. They all had a brown felt blade washer. This one shows a little age and looks to have been used. The scabbard has all the paint. The leather work is a little stiff with age, but all still supple. The blade is a little stained and could do with a clean. The felt washer is missing but a tiny scrap is left is left trapped between the blade and crossguard.
