EARLY SA BY CARL WUSTOFF (GLADIATORWERK) WITH MATCHING UNIT NUMBERS.

This is a decent,,early SA dagger with quite unique marching markings stamped to the lower crossguard and into the upper scabbard fitting. These read R/84 18166. I would imagine the R84 is the particular unit and the 18166 is his personal SA number. The lower crossguard is also stamped with the Gau mark Nm. Dark brown hardwood grip. There is some damage to the wood around the lower part of the nickel eagle. Looks like an attempt was made to remove the eagle? But didn’t succeed. The scabbard has lost most of the original brown anodising and has some surface denting on the reverse near the bottom fitting. The blade is very bright and clean but there are a lot of fine scratches over the Alles fur Deutschland motto. Looks like someone tried to sharpen the blade over the letters.
The reverse of the blade is perfect with all original crossgrain polish. The oval Carl Wustoff trademark is deep and clear. This maker is rated 6/10.
Priced accordingly with faults.
