IMPERIAL GERMAN DRESS SIDEARM-BAYONET LOOK-A-LIKE.

I originally thought this was a standard WW2 dress bayonet after buying it in a lot of other edged weapons. However, on further inspection I found that the release button in the pommel is non- working and there is no realise mechanism built into the pommel either. The mortise slot is there and it has an original piece of red felt in the slot (for artillery) but it would be impossible to fit on a rifle! The hilt etc are all made of steel and the chequered grips are made of ebony wood and not Bakelite. The final clue is the Alcoso trademark on the blade. This is the very early small scales used during WW1 which just says A C over S.
The blade is in very good shape, nice and bright with a fuller and carbine type false edge. This is a 100 year old dress sidearm, coming from Imperial Germany!
